About Us
The Apollo restaurant was established in 1970 by George and Toula Sakellaris. George and Toula immigrated from small villages in Southern Greece in the 1960’s. As a newly married couple in their early 20’s, they opened the Apollo Restaurant on the Kingsway.
The Apollo introduced the city of Sudbury to Greek cuisine, something that was not well known in the 1970s, and has since become famous for their homemade Greek specialities.
The Apollo is still owned and operated by Toula and her family and specializes in traditional authentic Greek foods and desserts, Angus Beef, and much more!

The Apollo Celebrates 50 Years in Sudbury
The Apollo restaurant was established 50 years ago by George and Toula Sakellaris, who immigrated here from Southern Greece in the 1960s. It wasn’t long after that the couple opened the Apollo Restaurant on the Kingsway.
Though the restaurant has undergone many renovations over the past 50 years, the fantastic Greek fare provided remains a favourite among regulars in the city. At its inception, Greek cuisine was a rarity in the city, and still to this day, the Apollo remains one of the only Mediterranean restaurants in the city.
Celebrating a half century of success is always bittersweet, but looking back at the long line of events that have led up to this point, Toula pointedly said “If I had to do it all over again, from being a 15-year-old girl in this city to now, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Presented on behalf of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, this award was given to the Apollo to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
